Butterfly FAQWelcome to Mrs. Burleson's Class Butterfly Wiki!
Congratulations 2nd graders! You have just become the proud parents of caterpillars. Over the next three weeks, you will care for your caterpillars and observe them as they emerge into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. Much like the frog, your butterfly will go through several stages of the life cycle before it becomes a full grown butterfly. Explore great links to butterfly websites, play butterfly games and learn interesting facts about butterflies.
Each day we will learn new things about your growing caterpillar or butterfly. Therefore, each day I want you to use the "Butterfly Journal" link, located in the navigation menu on the left side of the page, to journal about the growth and changes that your caterpillar or butterfly is undergoing.
See the video below about the life cycle of a butterfly! To view with a full screen, click the box with arrows at the lower right corner of the video screen.
Everyone will contribute to the KWL page. This page can be located in the navigation menu to the left of this page. At the beginning of our butterfly study, each student will post under the K and W column. In the K column, you will post at least one fact that you know about butterflies. In the W column, you will post at least one thing that you want to know about butterflies. At least once per week, I would like for you to use the L column to post what you have learned.
Check out the picture slideshow below! These very detailed pictures show what the butterfly looks like at the different stages of its life cycle. For best results, click the arrow. Then click the box with arrows at the lower right corner of the screen. Once you get a full page slide show, click show info at the top right corner of the screen.
